Alphabet Paper Blocks
Craft these alphabet blocks out of paper to make alphabet learning and phonics more fun and creative.

Supplies Needed
- A4 or Letter size cardstock
- Crayons or colored markers
- Scissors
- White glue
STEPS
1 Print out the template.
Print out either of these cube templates on A4 or Letter size cardstock. Template 1 makes a 2¼-inch cube while Template 2 makes a pair of 1½-inch cubes.
2Cut out.
Cut out the template pieces.
3Fold.
Fold the template along the inside lines.
4Glue the sides together.
Glue the sides together along the tabs to form a cube.
5Let the glue dry.
Set the cube aside to dry.
6Make squares with letters.
Cut out six squares that are slightly smaller than the cube's face. Write a letter on each square.
You can also print out these templates instead:
- Squares - print out the 1¾" squares to fit the big cube or the 1" squares for the small cube.
- Squares with Letters - print out for the small cube.
7Glue the letter squares.
Glue the letter squares onto the cube's six faces to complete an alphabet block.
8Make more alphabet blocks.
Create more alphabet blocks as more letters are learned. Use the blocks to learn phonics and spell out words. The letter blocks can be used for word games and other learning activities.
More Ideas
Decorate the template directly.
Instead of gluing the letter squares, you can write the letters directly onto the template. Decorate the template further by drawing lines, patterns or shapes. Assemble the cube as described in the steps above.
Create an alphabet box.
To make a box, do not glue the top flap. Decorate the box with drawings, pictures, or stickers. Use it for alphabet learning by assigning one letter per box and filling it with words or hand-drawn objects that begin with the letter.
