In this fun art activity, kids use toy cars to paint colorful lines and patterns on paper. The grooves on the wheels create unique lines that look just like real car tracks!
Prepare paint on plates or shallow containers. Slightly water down the paint and mix well. Cover your work area with a mat or with newspapers.
2Prepare the paper and toy cars.
Place a large sheet of paper at the center of your mat. Prepare three or more medium-sized toy cars as well.
3Dip a toy car in paint.
Place a toy car on a plate of paint and move it back and forth so that the wheels pick up paint. Lift the car and shake it a bit to remove excess paint.
4Use the car to paint on paper.
Roll the car along the paper. The wheels will make colorful tracks.
5Have fun painting.
Continue making coloful car tracks on paper. To avoid mixing all the colors together and ending up with mud-colored tracks, assign one car for each plate of paint.
6Clean the toy cars.
As an additional activity, kids can have a "car wash". Prepare a basin or tub of water where the cars can be washed. This is a sure hit with kids and provides them with an opportunity to help out with the clean up.
