1Print out the template.

Print out the red envelope template on red A4 or Letter size cardstock.

2Cut out.

Cut out the template.

3Fold along the inside lines.

Fold along the four inside lines. Unfold.

4Fold Flap A towards the center.

With the creases in place, you are now ready to glue the flaps together to form an envelope. First, fold Flap A towards the center.

5Apply glue on Flap B.

Next, apply glue along the long edge of Flap B.

6Glue Flap B over A.

Bring Flap B towards the folded Flap A. Press on the glued edge to join the two flaps together.

7Fold and glue Flap C.

Fold Flap C and glue it in place. Leave the top flap open. This is where the money should be put into the envelope.

8Decorate the envelope.

Decorate the back of the envelope with Chinese characters for happiness, luck, or the zodiac animal of the year.

Kids can use gold or black crayon or markers to write. Older kids can use undiluted gold acrylic paint, tempera, glitter glue, or a combination of white glue and gold glitter. An initial light pencil sketch of the symbol can be done before using the final material for writing.

9Sprinkle glitter over the glue.

For this tutorial we used white glue to write the symbols and sprinkled over with gold glitter.

10Shake off the excess glitter.

We waited overnight for the white glue to dry completely before shaking off the excess glitter.
