Prepare a pair of paper plates of the same size. We used 8.5" ones but slightly larger or smaller plates would work as well.
2Punch a pair of holes.
Using the tip of a pencil, carefully punch a pair of holes at the center of each plate. The distance between the holes should be about 3 inches or approximately as wide as the palm of your hand.
3Paint the paper plates.
Paint both sides of the paper plates with gold poster paint or acrylic paint.
4Create a pair of straps.
To make your cymbals' straps, prepare a pair of gold pipe cleaners or cut a pair of 10-inch long gold ribbon strips.
5Attach a strap to a cymbal.
Position a cymbal bottom side up. Insert the ends of a strap into the pair of holes.
6Tie the ends of the strap together.
Tie the ends of the ribbon or pipe cleaner on the flip side of the paper plate.
7Try on the cymbal.
Try holding the cymbal through the strap. Adjust the length of the strap for a comfortable fit.
8Add a strap on the other cymbal.
Repeat Steps 5 to 7 for the second cymbal.
9Glue some coins.
Flip the cymbals so that each plate's front side is facing up. Use a glue gun to attach small coins or metal washers all around the edges of each plate.
10Use the cymbals.
Once the glue dries, try banging the cymbals together to make some noise. Now and then some coins may fall off but that's okay. You can always glue them back later. Enjoy!
