1Print out the template.

Print out the poinsettia template on A4 or Letter size paper.

If you chose to print out the colored poinsettia template, go directly to Step 3.

2Use the template.

There are two ways to use the template to make poinsettia flowers:

Option 1:  Color or paint the template pieces—red for the flowers and green for the leaf. These template pieces will be used to make the actual poinsettia flowers.

Option 2:  Cut out 1 flower template and 1 leaf template. Trace around the flower template twice on red paper or felt and the leaf template once on green paper or felt.

3Cut out the poinsettia pieces.

Cut out the the two poinsettia flowers and the leaf.

For the colored poinsettia template, cut out the four small golden circles as well.

4Glue the flowers together.

Glue the two flowers together. Position the flowers in such a way that the first flower's petals stick out from the spaces in between the second flower's petals.

If you are making a felt poinsettia, do not glue the flowers and the leaves. Skip to Step 6.

5Glue the leaf.

Glue the leaf behind the bottom flower. Position the leaf so that the leaf tips stick out in between the petals.

6Make a pair of holes.

Punch a pair of holes at the center of the poinsettia.

If you are working on a felt poinsettia, arrange the flowers and leaves just like in Steps 4 and 5 but without gluing them together. Punch a pair of holes on the topmost flower—this would create marks on the bottom flower and leaf. Separate the felt layers and punch holes on each felt piece.

7Attach a pipe cleaner.

Bend a pipe cleaner in the middle. Insert the ends through the pair of holes on the poinsettia.

For the felt poinsettia, go one felt piece at a time—first insert the pipe cleaner ends through the holes on the top flower, next through the bottom flower, then through the leaf.

Carefully pull the pipe cleaner all the way through until only the folded section of the pipe cleaner is visible from the top.

8Make the flower's center.

Look for gold-colored materials that you can glue at the center of the poinsettia. Some ideas:

• Gold beads, buttons or sequins (left photo)
• Gold candy foil rolled into balls
• Paper rolled into little balls then painted gold (right photo)
• For the colored poinsettia template, glue the 4 golden round circles included in the template
