Alphabet Tree
Create a fun tree with alphabet letters for the leaves. Spell some words or just stick the letters for fun.

Supplies Needed
- A4 or Letter size brown cardstock
- 12" x 18" or 9" x 12" construction paper (pick the color you want as your picture's background)
- Alphabet letters (stickers or cut your own from craft foam or colored paper)
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Crayons or markers
STEPS
1Print out the template.
Print out either of these tree trunk templates on brown A4 or Letter size cardstock:
- Cocount tree
- Tree trunk - print out Template 2 (Tree trunk with flat base) to fit a 9" x 12" background paper or Template 6 (Large tree trunk with flat base) to match a 12" x 18" background.
You can also draw your own tree trunk on brown cardstock or construction paper.
2Cut out the tree trunk.
Cut out the tree trunk. For the coconut tree, cut out the branches as well.
3Prepare the background.
Choose the color and size of your background paper. Use 12" x 18" construction paper if you printed out the coconut tree template or Tree Trunk Template #6 (large tree trunk with flat base). If you went for Tree Trunk Template #2 (tree trunk with flat base), a 9" x 12" sheet of construction paper or cardstock will do.
4Glue the tree trunk.
Glue the tree trunk at the center of your background paper. For the coconut tree, glue the branches in a fan-like arrangement at the top of the trunk.
For the large tree trunk template, the tree consists of two sections—a top (with branches) and a bottom. Glue the top piece onto the tab area of the bottom piece.
5Prepare the alphabet letters.
Use craft foam letters, alphabet stickers, draw and cut out your own letters, or print out the alphabet letter sets below. The letters do not have to be all green, you can make them as colorful as you like.
For the coconut tree, create some coconuts by cutting circles or letter O's.
6Glue the letters.
Glue the alphabet letters on the branches to make the leaves. Spell a word on each branch or just stick the letters for fun.
For the coconut tree, glue the letter O's on the top portion of the tree trunk.
7Add details.
Draw details for your picture with crayons or markers. Make grass at the bottom, you can make a sun, flowers, or even butterflies. Use your imagination and add any detail you like.
More Ideas
Make your tree as colorful and whimsical as you like. Removable letters are great for practicing spelling. Another fun idea is to have removable letters. Instead of gluing the letters, use double-sided tape so that the letters can be moved. Use foam board for the background and craft foam for the tree trunk to make them more durable.
