1Make the bottom of the hatched egg.

Cut one cup or section from a cardboard egg carton. Cut the lip in a zigzag pattern to simulate a hatched egg. This piece will be the bottom part of the chick's egg.

2Make the top of the hatched egg.

Cut another cup or section from the egg carton. Trim it a lot shorter than the first one, then similarly cut the lip in a zigzag pattern. This piece will be the top part of the chick's egg.

3Paint both pieces.

Paint the outside of the egg carton cups with white tempera or poster paint. Besides white, you can also use pastel colors of paint like baby pink or light blue.

4Make a pom pom chick.

Prepare a large yellow pom pom (1.5" or 2" diameter) to make into a fluffy chick. Glue a pair of wiggle eyes on the pom pom.

5Create the beak.

Make a beak by cutting out 1 or 2 small triangles out of orange craft foam, felt, or construction paper. There are two 2 ways to attach the beak:

• One triangle - glue one triangle flat onto the pom pom (great option for younger kids).
• Two triangles - glue the base of each triangle at an angle (as shown in photo) to create a three-dimensional beak.

6Place the chick in the egg.

Glue the chick inside the bottom egg piece (the taller egg carton cup).

7Add wings.

Create wings by gluing a pair of yellow feathers at the sides of the chick.

If you think the feathers are too long, trim them at the base before gluing them on.
