1Print out a Chinese-inspired picture.

Choose from the Chinese-inspired pictures below or look online for one to print out. Print out the file on A4 or Letter size paper.

2Color the picture.

Color the picture using colored pencils.

3Crumple the picture.

Gently crumple your picture into a ball.

4Uncrumple the paper.

Carefully uncrumple picture. Place it on a flat surface and run your hand over the picture to straighten out the paper.

5Prepare the coffee.

Dissolve some instant coffee in about ½ cup of hot water. If there's some leftover brewed coffee from breakfast, you can also use it as well. Let the coffee cool down to room temperature.

Test the color intensity of your coffee mixture on any piece of white paper. If it's too dark, add a bit of water until you achieve a light to medium shade of brown.

6Stain the picture.

Cover your work area with a plastic mat or a placemat. Dip your paint brush into the coffee mixture and paint the picture. Continue until you've stained the entire picture brown.
