String paper stars with some drinking straws to make an easy starry necklace.
You can either use pre-cut stars or maker your own.
a.) Pre-cut stars - get pre-cut paper or foam stars from a craft store, then proceed to Step 10.
b.) Make your own stars - go to our printable stars page. Choose the last printable—Fold & Cut Stars (1¼- and 2-inch Stars).
Cut a 30-inch length of string. Make a knot about 2-3 inches from one end—the knot must be large enough to stop the stars and drinking straw pieces from going through.
Another option for preventing the stars and drinking straws from going through the knot is to use a button. String the button all the way until it touches the knot.
Instead of having stars on the entire length of the necklace, you can just place stars at the front.
To do this, string 6 drinking straw pieces, then alternate 6 big stars with 6 drinking straws. String another 6 drinking straw pieces before joining the ends of the string together.
You can also make a short necklace by using an elastic string—this makes putting the necklace on much easier.
