1Paint a paper cup.

Prepare a small paper cup to make into the turkey's body. Paint the outside of the cup with brown acrylic, tempera, or poster paint. Acrylic paint is best for painting waxy or glossy paper cups.

2Create the head, wings and feet.

Keeping in mind the size of the turkey's paper cup body, draw and cut out a round head and a pair of wings from brown construction paper. Cut out a pair of feet from orange construction paper.

You can also print out either of these turkey templates on A4 or Letter size paper. The sets include a turkey's head, eyes, beak, feet, wings and tail feathers. If you chose the black & white set, color or paint all the turkey parts. Cut out all the pieces.

3Add eyes and a beak.

Glue a pair of wiggle eyes on the head. Cut two small triangles from orange paper or craft foam. Glue them below the eyes to create a beak.

4Glue the head onto the cup.

You can position the turkey's paper cup body either upright or upside-down. With an upright paper cup, you can put goodies or thankful notes inside.

Once the paint on the paper cup dries, glue the turkey's head near the top.

5Glue the wings.

Glue the wings onto the sides of the paper cup.

6Glue the feet.

Glue the pair of feet at the bottom of the cup. Make sure they are aligned with and facing in the same direction as the turkey's head.

7Make tail feathers.

Cut out 5-7 long ovals from red, green, orange, and yellow paper to make the turkey's tail feathers.

8Write thankful thoughts.

On each tail feather, write something that you are thankful for in your life. Write on the right half of each feather so that the words would still be visible even after the feathers are glued onto the turkey.

9Arrange the tail feathers.

Arrange the feathers like a fan. Glue them together at the bottom.
